A Highlights Page is a single-page poster about one of the 16 Guidelines.
Highlights pages are available in two sizes: posting-size sheets and sharing-size postcards. Both sizes give a description/definition of the guideline, photos of people and animals exhibiting the attitude of the guideline, colourful illustrations, and an affirming phrase for the guideline. The 16 phrases each have an associated tune that can make them memorable for children, and together the words from the phrases form the rap for the hand-clap game, "It's In My Hands" from Ready Set Happy.
You can use these to post on the wall, for handouts, for the refrigerator, for positive acknowledgments or to build the vocabulary of the guidelines.
You are most welcome to invent your own activities using these highlights pages. Get creative! Or you can try some of our activities using one or more decks of the postcards. Some are educational and can be done in math, language, art or music classes. Others are fun to familiarise with the vocabulary of the guidelines, while otherse are intended to deepen an understanding of the guidelines.
You can use them at home, at school, or anywhere you can imagine a use for them. Activities are suggested using all cards, choosing one guideline purposefully for an activity, choosing one randomly for a week at a time, for a day at a time, things to do with a partner and things to do with multiple decks.
