Wisdom Themes
From 16Guidelines
The four wisdom themes of the 16 Guidelines are philosophical themes that underpin the guidelines and indicate the way in which we can apply them in our everyday experience.
The four wisdom themes are:
- How we think (everything we say and do arises from our thoughts)
- How we act (every skilful action makes a better world)
- How we relate to others (every time we cherish others we are cherishing ourselves)
- How we find meaning (if everything is changing, anything is possible)
The Sequence of the Wisdom Themes
The sequence of the wisdom themes is based on the understanding that our thoughts inform our actions, our actions inform our relationships with others, and it is through our relationships with others that we find meaning in life.
Thus, it is suggested that if we cultivate the thought of humility, for instance, we will be better equipped to act with kindness, treat others with respect and find meaning in service.
